Darrell,
I see with pleasure that we start to use the Google translator.
I hope what I wrote tonight using the Google translator to understand the findings, or ask one of my friends in Rome, called Sante Pollastri to be my interpreter, in which case we would be riding ....

nun c'è probblema!

Sante what questions do you?
"Te possino"... (this can not be translated, excuse me Darrell).
Obviously Sante joke, considering that Darrell builds a model characterized by slope.

In english for Darrell:

Then I see that I clearly understand ..... Darrell has a capacity of interpretation of the 'English maccaronico "( the English language spoken or poorly translated) out of the ordinary.

which i s the better geometry(for a bike,not for a frame),trditional or slope?
thanks.

The performance differences are small
but some times the sloping top tube is a better fit to the position of the rider.

The sloping top tube has minor structural merit
with the two smaller triangles of frame tubes
which is a tiny bit lighter and little more rigid.
I use approx 6 degrees of slope to the top tube
This drops the seat tube approx 60mm
Shortens the top tube by 15mm
and the seat stays by approx 45mm
The seat post must be longer and have enough rigidity so to not behave like a fishing pole.
All this saves appox 40 -50 grams. That is all!
(Green bike picture, it is my current weekend bike)
One advantage of a sloping top tube is get the head tube higher for less athletic riders. (Blue Randonneur Picture)
and for very small frames (pink bike) you can have more seat post showing and top tube clearance

The horizontal (level) top tube works just fine in most designs and looks nice.
For many it is what they have always known.
That is cool.
My next bike for myself is going to be a Cadenzia frame with Dario's new carbon fork to test. This frame will have a level top tube will will be stiff for my size and weight due to the XL tube size. It will be an interesting experiment and I may also use the new XL XCr tubes for lugs for extra fun.
(refer to attached CAD drawing)
Over the last 15 years I have made myself only one new bike that I ride! (The Green one)

the sloping top tube or compact frame is tiny bit lighter and a little more rigid.

More rigid is NOT faster.
More rigid might feel better
giving the rider more confidence
but never faster

I have got to go
I will be back later
Ciao

ciao,i've to go in my bedo-o

What is the weight limit for a rider between cutodian and cadenzia?
When, for you, a rider is heavy in kilograms?
I do not know if I explained well.

It will take 30 years to explain 30 years of experience

You are right...

"A bicycle is not a sofa"
Dario Pegoretti

I fully agree with Dario.

all things have to be taken into the project
It is about the intended use for the bike.
and then I design the frame geometry to fit under you for the bike's intended use.
I select the materials.
I do use fragile tubes, there is no benefit in saving 100 grams and havijng a fragile frame, there is no performance gain. I long lasting bike for your hard earned dollars is important.
We speak and I explain my rational of design and choices.
Refer to attached sample CAD drawing.
Then the metal work will begin.

Basically I agree this strategy.
Practically I felt enormous differences between frames with 100-200g of weight range. Maybe the biggest part of these differences must be the geometry, but even in the cases the geometry was the same traditional one with similar angles, I felt big differences while climbing "fuorisella", sorry but I don't know how do you say when you ride without being sat on the saddle.
Approaching the discussion following this concept, what is the weight of the lugs you need to add for building a lugged frame? (this is only a curiosity)

Tnx a lot Dazza for your kindly and friendly answers.

And last but not least, my best compliments for your lugged frames.
