Its a lot easier to move between screens and access the menus while riding. A swipe of the screen left or right changes the display to the next/previuous screen. </p><p></p><p>- There are three main screens that are available all the time. They hold from 3 up to 10 data fields each. That is up to 30 data fields at your finger tips. Talk about data overload! The "Fred's" among us will be proud.</p><p></p><p>- To follow on the item above, there are also screens that are available when running a course or a workout. Each one can hold up to 10 more data fields!</p><p></p><p>- Feeling overloaded? You can turn these screens off and run with as few as one screen with only three data fields. Flexibility!</p><p></p><p>- As for the screen itself, well it seems a little harder to view than the Edge 500 and Edge 705 when the backlight is off. Given I have only one ride I will see if it was just case of being overly critical on the first day out. I have also found no way to change the screen contrast.</p><p></p><p>- The routing works really nice. It is noticeable faster on the calculation than the Edge 705. This is most apparent when you go off the route and it has to re-calculate. </p><p></p><p>- I know there have been some posts about calories so I will mention my experience. I ran my Power Tap today so I am able to compare against the Kilojoules based on the power data. In addition, I used my soft HR strap, not the new version one, that I purchased back in January. Kilojoules were 710 and calories were 650. Thats about an 8% variance. Not too far off.</p><p></p><p>- The history records are able to be browsed much faster than the Edge 500. That unit was notorious for click and wait.</p><p></p><p>- Interestingly missing from the history summary screen for the ride was the average and max power. This info was found on the lap screens but not the total ride. This must be a bug!</p><p></p><p>- Something that I was hoping to see in the history file was the storage of the kilojoule data. That continues to be missing. </p><p></p><p>- Course ran perfect. No lockups, no corrupt data, and I managed to beat my time!</p><p></p><p>- An interesting missing item is a field for the remaining battary percentage. The only indicator you have for the battery is a symbol that empties as the battery drops. The Edge 500 even showed % left!</p><p></p><p>- Press and release the power button as shortcut to set screen brightness, change bike profile in use, lock the screen and see what devices are paired up.</p><p></p><p>- Panning the map is sweet! Works just like many of the new smart phones, just slide your finger to scroll the map. And, it responds very quick!</p></blockquote><p></p>
