Se lo strumento non fa una media adeguata è normale vedere variazioni ampie, non centra il fatto di avere la pedalata a stantuffo o meno.
La Forza che tu applichi sui pedali durante tutto l'arco della pedalata è tutt'altro che costante, di conseguenza è tutt'altro che costante la potenza relativa.

La pedalata la si può a grandi linee dividere in 4 fasi :

Fase 1 : da 20° a 145° = 125° (Spinta), lavoro svolto 65%
Fase 2 : da 145° a 215° = 70° (Spinta orizzontale indietro), lavoro svolto 12%
Fase 3 : da 215° a 325° = 110° (Trazione), lavoro svolto 17%
Fase 4 : da 325° a 20° = 55° (Spinta orizzontale avanti), lavoro svolto 6%

Se prendiamo un esempio in cui consideriamo una forza media di pedalata di 10 Kg per gamba, nell'arco della pedalata la forza si distribuisce così nelle varie fasi :

F(fase1)[Kg] = 187,2%*F[Kg] = 18,72 [Kg]
F(fase2)[Kg] = 61,71%*F[Kg] = 6,17 [Kg]
F(fase3)[Kg] = 55,63%*F[Kg] = 5,56 [Kg]
F(fase4)[Kg] = 39,27%*F[Kg] = 3,92 [Kg]

Nella fase di spinta, su ognuna delle due gambe puoi applicare una forza che è quasi 5 volte quella che applichi nella fase di spinta orizzontale avanti (ovviamente l'evoluzione della forza è graduale tra le fasi, una specie di sinusoide distorta).
Le fasi delle due gambe sono ovviamente sfasate di 180 gradi una con l'altra.
Il che si traduce alla fine, a cadenza costante, a una variazione ampia della potenza espressa nell'arco della pedalata.

Ad esempio il Fortius ha un misuratore di potenza che media su un tempo di 2-3 secondi. Infatti se si pedala a ritmo costante la potenza varia al massimo di 10-15w.
