To restore a Polartec® Aircore waterproof garment, machine wash it on a gentle, warm cycle with a small amount of liquid detergent and double-rinse to remove all soap
. After washing, tumble dry on low heat for about 20 minutes to reactivate the Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish; alternatively, you can line dry and iron on a low setting if your care label allows.
Step 1: Prepare the garment
- Before washing, zip all zippers and fasten all closures, flaps, and straps.
- Remove anything from the pockets.
- Wash the garment separately from other laundry.
Step 2: Machine wash
- Use a gentle or delicate cycle on a warm setting (around
30−40°C30 minus 40 degrees cap C
).
- Use a small amount of liquid detergent (not powdered).
- Avoid fabric softeners, bleach, or harsh detergents, as they can damage the fabric and seams.
- Run an extra rinse cycle to ensure all detergent is completely washed out.
Step 3: Dry and reactivate DWR
- After washing, dry the garment on a clothesline or in the dryer.
- To reactivate the DWR: Once completely dry, tumble dry the garment on a low or medium heat setting for about 20 minutes. This helps restore the water-repellent finish.
- Alternative: If you don't have a dryer, you can reactivate the DWR by ironing the garment on a low setting, according to the care label.
