[Comunicato stampa] London: Rapha has revealed a limited edition collection to celebrate a decade of the Rapha Cycling Club (RCC). RCC + David Carson will be available exclusively to RCC members on the 26th August. Alongside a selection of apparel and accessories, Rapha has also teamed up with Factor Bikes to release an exclusive Factor MONZA designed by the artist.
David Carson is known for his free-spirited approach to design – the perfect expression of a vibrant club that has brought thousands of members together for a decade of rides, events, and races.
Rapha’s weekly ride programmes run from its 22 Clubhouses in cities around the world. Led by a network of knowledgeable Ride Leaders, programming varies by terrain, pace, and purpose to suit every level of ability and ambition. Last year, Rapha ran more than 4,000 rides worldwide, cycling over 3 million miles with its RCC members.
In reflection of this global community, the brand has a history of partnering with artists from all over the world, including Kelly Anna, Yoon Hyup, María Medem and Geoff McFetridge. As a pioneering American graphic artist, nonconformist, and innovator in typography and layout, Carson’s influence on the art and design world is indelible.
Gaining notoriety as art director of music magazine Raygun, Carson rose to fame with his experimental style. His work has earned numerous awards and is widely exhibited, continuing to inspire through lectures, books and collaborations.
Reflecting on Rapha’s creative heritage, David Carson said: “It was really refreshing in both LA and NYC to find out how many creative people were involved with Rapha. The brand and its product attracts such a diverse group of people. Their innovation, rich creative history and authenticity, the way other cyclists spoke about them, the way they were willing to explore so many design directions.”
This ethos is also reflected in Factor Bikes’ ‘never status quo’ philosophy, which drives its rapid innovation. Rob Gitelis, Founder of Factor Bikes, said: “As an avid admirer and collector of contemporary art, I’ve long been a fan of David Carson’s work. It brings me great pleasure to see this collaboration come to fruition, and I look forward to seeing these rolling pieces of art on roads all over the world.”
A fleet of RCC-branded Factor Bikes has been available for members to hire at Rapha Clubhouses worldwide for over a year, but this will be the first time a Rapha + Factor bike is commercially available.
From the 26th August a special RCC + David Carson issue Factor MONZA – the brand’s performance road racing bike, built for the everyday racer – will be available to purchase. Plus ahead of launch, Rapha is giving members the chance to win one of 10 super limited chrome finish models to celebrate 10 years of the RCC.
Active RCC members can enter the competition at http://content.rapha.cc/gb/en/story/rcc-carson before 2 September at midnight BST. To join the RCC or learn more about the benefits of the club, please visit content.rapha.cc/row/en/rcc.
